Meet Your Designer

Hi, I’m Jorie.

My Story

I began woodworking at the age of 12 by making doll-sized furniture in my 7th-grade Tech Ed class. We were supposed to pick one project to build — bench, table, or desk — I made them all plus a few candlesticks and frames because I loved creating and building so much and picked it up so quickly.

The following year we progressed to full-sized end tables; each student was given enough materials to create their piece, so I made mine but went on to help others in the class as well. When I moved to the high school, I no longer had that teacher or ability to create as we did then. So, I moved to my grandfather’s shop and started making furniture with him and bringing my ideas to life. My first big woodworking project was a bed I had seen in a Pottery Barn store. I wanted that bed, but my parents weren’t keen on spending $3,000 on a bed for a 15-year-old. Instead, I drew up some plans, took them to my grandfather, and we built my bed together. I still have and use this bed in my current bedroom 17 years later. Since then, the creation process has been my love… from the vision to drawing up the plans to executing a build!

We lost my grandfather in 2021, but that passion he helped instill in me lives on.

19 years later…

I have come full circle and am back to designing, creating, and building custom pieces in my grandfather’s shop.

Where Passion Meets Purpose

My grandfather, who owned his own carpentry business, built homes and did finish work later in life, helped instill a great love and appreciation for woodworking in me at a young age. My brother and I would often tag along with him on projects during the summer; I would help where I could but most of the time would wander around and just imagine the finishing touches of the home, moving room to room, envisioning the final product how I would make it.

My approach to woodwork and design is personal. I am not Homemakers or a big box store that you come to shop around in; each piece I create is specific to your needs and customized to your taste. I want to get to know you and the space your piece is going, form a relationship where I fully understand everything you want to get from your piece and make your vision a reality. Whether it is the dresser left to you by your great grandfather or a table that’s been in the family for over 100 years or creating the coolest bed for your toddler, I want my work to bring a smile to your face every time you see it. and spark joy within your home.

Like the base style of one table but the top of another?

Great! Let’s blend them together and create your perfect piece.

Have an empty space to fill but can’t find the right piece to fill it?

Let’s chat! What are your goals for the space and how will it be used?

Unsure of how you want your vision brought to life?

No problem. Let’s work together and see what we can do with your existing space and determine the best options for your budget.

While my timelines vary from project to project, I can promise my heart and soul will go into your piece. I only use quality wood — no pressed MDF with a faux-wood veneer. Every design, project, refinish, or custom-build that I undertake will be cared for and treated as though it came from my own relative or were going into my own home.

As I translate your vision into a reality, I promise to share a positive and rewarding experience.
